Home Tips on Cleaning Your Mattresses

Even if you do use linens and mattress pads, your mattress will accumulate a huge amount of dirt over the years. So, you probably shouldn’t be told that you need to clean the very thing that you lie down on and sleep in every night.
Follow these steps below to learn how to clean your mattress at home.

Vacuum Often

Remove your mattress cover, give it a few taps outside, and take a pass over it using a vacuum cleaner. This will help get rid all of the dirt and dust that has accumulated on it. Once you’re finished vacuuming the mattress, do the same for the bed.

Don’t Forget To Spot Clean

As soon as you notice a stain appearing on your bed, take care of it so it doesn’t have time to set and chemically bond with the fabric and become harder to remove.
Here are a couple of tips to help you spot clean your king sized bed in singapore:

  • Mix together hydrogen peroxide, liquid dish soap, and baking soda in a spray bottle, shake it well and use it to blot out or rub the stained area with a clean rag for common stains.
  • Find a non-toxic, natural enzyme cleaner that can chemically break down stains for more stubborn stains.
  • Create a lemon juice and salt paste and apply it directly to the stain. Let it sit for a good hour before wiping it off with a clean towel.

Deodorise

Baking soda is your best friend when it comes to cleaning and deodorising your mattress. Simply sprinkle a light layer of baking soda over your mattress and let it sit for hours. This will allow it to absorb all of the excess liquid build-ups from the years of use and stain removal process and leave your mattress smelling much better than before. Make sure that you vacuum off the baking soda properly and get into all of the small crevices so all traces of the power are removed.

Give It Some Time Out On The Sun

One of the easiest (or hardest??) thing that you can do to keep your mattress clean is to air it out under the sun. Of course, this isn’t always possible. If your mattress is too heavy, don’t bother. But if you can do it, then please do. It’s an excellent way to eliminate bacteria at zero financial cost.

Get a Mattress Cover

If you haven’t bought a mattress cover yet, then now is a good time to buy one. They serve as the first line of defence of your therapedic mattress against future dust, dirt, sweat build-up, and stains, and can easily be cleaned regularly. Feel free to buy a couple of different mattress covers so you’re not as hard pressed to clean and dry out your one mattress cover as soon as it gets dirty. While there will inevitably come a time when you will have to replace your mattress regardless of how clean you keep it, following these tips can make sure that it doesn’t happen until at least five to ten years after purchase.
